On behalf of the Institutional Program on Disasters of the World Psychiatric Association I would like to express our condolences, sympathy and solidarity for the terrible earthquake disaster that has hit your country. If there is something that we can do to help, please let us know. I am sure that your Association will do its best to help the people and especially the survivors of this catastrophe and the relatives of the persons who have been lost.
Please keep in touch. We should be grateful if you could let us know your needs and also the action that your Association has taken to deal with the psychosocial consequences of this disaster. I am copying this message to the WPA President Prof. Mezzich with whom we have discussed the issue of psychosocial assistance to the survivors.
Let us hope that this disaster will be the last to hit our countries and that China will soon manage to heal its wounds from it
